The short answer

First identify whether the unwanted change is in a draft or already public. Draft discard leaves the live page unchanged; rollback restores an earlier published version at the existing address. Neither action reverses external emails, CRM records, or payments.

Find out whether the edit is public

The right way to undo an AI website edit depends on where that edit lives. An unpublished draft can be revised or discarded. A published mistake needs another published change or a rollback to an existing version. Start by identifying the page and its current state; asking the assistant to “rebuild the old page” from memory can lose details that were working.

In Pageree, published versions are immutable snapshots. A rollback points the live page back to one of those versions. It keeps the page’s address rather than creating a second landing page. The workflow below describes the product’s version tools; it is not a claim that we rolled back a customer’s live site during this article’s research.

Choose the smallest recovery that solves the problem

Situation Useful action Important consequence
Unpublished draft has a bad headline Read and edit the current draft Keep the rest of the draft work
Entire unpublished draft is unwanted Discard the draft after confirming Its preview stops resolving; the discarded work is not recoverable
New live version breaks the enquiry flow Restore a known earlier published version The public page changes; check its form immediately afterward
One good section was removed several versions ago Read that previous version and copy the section into a new draft Review the combined result before publication

Discarding a draft does not restore an older public version because it does not change the live page at all. Conversely, rollback changes the live version and does not serve as a cleanup command for unrelated draft work. Ask the assistant to inspect any open draft explicitly before it saves or deletes anything.

Inspect history before choosing a version

Ask for the page information and version list. Compare the version labels, publication dates, and changelogs. Then read the stored source of the candidate version. A description such as “shortened enquiry form” helps, but it does not establish that the old form still matches your current delivery setup.

Suppose a fictional consultant published v4 with a shorter form, then noticed that the question used to qualify projects was missing. If v3 has the desired offer and fields, restoring v3 may be the fastest recovery. If v4 also contains a corrected price, copying the missing question into a new v4-based draft avoids reintroducing the old price. This example illustrates a decision; it is not performance data.

Use the assistant’s stored-source tools rather than copying HTML fetched from the public page. Pageree injects its analytics script when serving a published page; the stored source avoids pulling that injected script back into a new draft.

Copy this recovery prompt

Help me undo an unwanted change on [page URL / page ID].
Observed problem: [what changed and why it is wrong].
Last known good state: [version/date/description, if known].

Read the page information, list published versions, and tell
me whether an unpublished draft exists. Do not overwrite it.
Read the relevant stored HTML and compare the affected section.
Recommend draft revision, draft discard, partial restoration,
or rollback. Explain which public content and fields would change.

Do not delete draft work or change the live version until I
confirm the specific recovery. After an approved rollback,
report the live version and URL and give me a form test checklist.
Do not claim that an external CRM or payment system was restored.

Verify the restored page and its boundaries

Rollback updates the published mapping for the hosted subdomain and an attached custom hostname. It may take up to a minute for the change to reach every serving location. An immediate refresh showing the newer version is not, by itself, a reason to issue repeated rollback commands.

Reopen the public page, check the corrected section, and submit a clearly marked test with information you control. Confirm the final inbox or CRM destination. Restoring HTML is not a transaction that reverses emails, CRM records, payments, or external automation changes. Verify those systems separately and retain real enquiry records.

Finally, note the restoration time before comparing landing-page analytics. A return to an old version does not make traffic sources and visitor intent identical across periods. For the next edit, use the private preview process and the launch checklist to catch functional regressions before publication.
