# Help Google and Bing discover your landing page

> Check crawlability, verify ownership, and use supported URL or sitemap submission methods. Understand hosted-page limits and why indexing is not guaranteed.

**The short answer.** Publish the reviewed page, check its final URL and indexing directives, then verify a webmaster property using a method your hosting supports. Submit the real URL or sitemap and monitor the result. Submission does not guarantee indexing or a ranking deadline.

## Make discovery possible before requesting indexing

A newly published landing page can be accessible to visitors without appearing in search results yet. Search engines must discover it, crawl its contents, decide whether to index it, and select it for a query. Those are separate stages. Publishing, submitting a sitemap, or requesting a crawl does not guarantee ranking or an indexing deadline.

Start with the final public URL you want people to find. A Pageree draft is intentionally excluded from indexing and is for review. Publish the approved page first, then check the exact hosted or custom-domain address. This guide describes checks you can perform; it does not claim that your Search Console or Bing account has already been verified.

## Check the page's eligibility

Open the URL without signing in. Confirm that it serves the intended content over HTTPS and does not return an error. Inspect its title, visible text, canonical URL, and indexing directives. A `noindex` meta tag or response header can exclude a page even if it looks normal in a browser.

Robots rules and indexing rules do different jobs. A crawler needs access to read a `noindex` directive; blocking crawling is not a reliable substitute for that directive. ## Verify ownership with a method you can support

Google Search Console provides several [ownership-verification methods](https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/9008080). A Domain property uses DNS verification. A URL-prefix property can offer methods such as an HTML meta tag, depending on the property and your access. Use the exact token Google supplies and keep the verification method in place.

For an owned custom domain, DNS access can make verification straightforward. For a hosted subdomain, you generally do not control the provider's parent-domain DNS. Choose a supported property scope and verification method rather than pretending to verify the entire hosting domain. An HTML tag added to a page still needs Google to confirm it; the presence of the tag is not a completed verification.

## Submit a URL or a real sitemap

For one or a few pages, use Search Console's URL Inspection tool on an eligible property and inspect the reported state before requesting indexing. Google's [recrawl guidance](https://developers.google.com/search/docs/crawling-indexing/ask-google-to-recrawl) says that repeated requests for the same URL do not speed up crawling and that submission does not guarantee inclusion.

For a larger website, submit its actual sitemap and add crawlable internal links from relevant pages. Do not submit a guessed `/sitemap.xml` address. Pageree's single-page publishing workflow does not by itself grant control over arbitrary root files or create a multi-page sitemap on your behalf. Check the hosting capabilities and use the sitemap that genuinely exists for the site you manage.

## Handle Bing and IndexNow within your hosting access

Bing Webmaster Tools can help you inspect discovery and indexing. Its [IndexNow setup](https://www.bing.com/indexnow/getstarted) requires a key file on the relevant host, either at the root or an explicitly specified supported location. Merely owning a domain does not mean your page host can serve that verification file.

If your hosting route cannot serve the required key file, do not claim IndexNow is configured. Use available webmaster submission methods or establish a supported hosting arrangement. A successful IndexNow response acknowledges submission; it does not certify that the page has been indexed.
